My passion for building riding surfaces began as a youngster in the 1980s, shaping backyard BMX tracks with a shovel and rake. Mountain biking became a lifestyle for me in 1990 and has remained an integral part of my life ever since. From 1998 through 2007, I competed in downhill mountain bike racing at the expert level, helping develop a confident and creative riding style while gaining a deep understanding of trail speed, flow, and rider experience.
As mountain biking evolved, so did my passion for learning and progression. Pursuing mountain bike instructor certification and working as a coach helped me better understand how riders of different skill levels develop skills and how trail terrain should match the intended rider experience.
We specialize in sustainable trails designed for durability, proper drainage, progression, and an exceptional rider experience.
History of building original rake and ride singletrack trails starting in 2000. Since that time I have educated myself on modern trail building techniques and specifications. Continuing to learn, progress and develop skills, methods and theory for trail building techniques. These techniques fit into the New England terrain working with the land with the goals of minimal disturbance and maximum protection to the surrounding forest and natural features.

I have worked with Rob on several pump track and dirt jump zones at private residences in our area. His creativity and passion are of the highest level. Coming from a BMX background, following or leading Rob on these trails are some of my favorite times on a bike because his lines flow so smooth and bring the right challenges. I know his designs are well-planned, built to last, and will keep us safe. That's what I look forward to when he opens up a new place to ride.
I had the pleasure to work with Rob Horne designing and building hiking and mountain bike trails from 2005-2010 in Northborough, Ma.. Rob and I were volunteers for the Northborough Trails Committee, and I was the Chairman. Designing and building recreation trails is a skill that came natural to Rob. He used his love for the woodland combined with his extensive construction experience to help expand the trail network in our community. Over the last 20 years Rob has continued pursuing his passion for creating recreational trails.
Robert Horne has worked on our trails at the Woodlands Condo Development in Clinton, MA for several years. He has helped maintain existing trails and been instrumental in developing new trails. He has a keen sense for how to route trails for maximum enjoyment. He is also a tireless worker and sets extremely high standards for making sure trails are easily walkable. I highly recommend Robert for any trail development or maintenance activity.
